About North Carolina: Summer Edition ☀️😎🌊

Summer in North Carolina is the season. The sun shows up, the sunscreen gets used, and everyone pretends they’re totally prepared for heat... while sprinting to the nearest shade. Luckily, NC gives you plenty to do—beach days, mountain escapes, and history-filled adventures that don’t require you to feel guilty about being out all day.

Here are some awesome summer activities to add to your list:

Must-Do Summer Spots in North Carolina 🗺️😄

1) Visit the USS North Carolina (Wilmington) ⚓🌊

If you’ve ever wanted to tour a real naval ship like a “totally casual” history person, this is your move. It’s a powerful, memorable stop and a great way to spend a summer day.

2) Take on the Appalachian Trail (near/through NC) 🥾🏞️

Yes, it’s a “walk in the woods” kind of vibe—until you realize the trail does not care about your confidence. Start with an easy segment, bring water, and enjoy the mountain scenery like you earned it.

3) Spend a day at the NC Zoo (Asheboro) 🦁🌿

Perfect for families, animal lovers, and anyone who wants an air-conditioned break from the heat (or at least fewer regrets than hiking). It’s a fun, full-day experience.

4) Explore Old Salem (Winston-Salem) 🏛️🍦

Historic streets, local charm, and that “how is this even real?” feeling when you’re walking through a well-preserved piece of North Carolina history. Great for browsing, learning, and snacking.

5) Check out the Huey helicopter at the Guilford County Veterans Memorial (Greensboro) 🛩️🇺🇸

At the Guilford County Veterans Memorial at Country Park in Greensboro, you can see a Vietnam-era Huey helicopter added to the grounds as part of an effort to honor veterans and bring more visitors to the site.

The helicopter—used during the Vietnam War—now sits on permanent display alongside new flagpoles and a bronze sculpture. Interactive kiosks are also planned to provide historical context about the aircraft and military service.

It’s a powerful, up-close look at military history many people don’t get to see firsthand.

Bonus summer advice (because NC weather has opinions) 😅🌡️

- Go early for outdoor adventures (you’ll thank yourself).

- Drink water like it’s part of your personality.

- Bring sunscreen, because the sun in NC doesn’t do “gentle.”

If you’re living here (or moving here), I’m here to help you protect your home and belongings through every season—because fun is great, but summer storms and unexpected repairs are real. 😊☀️
